Moonlight

The short story entitled Moonlight by Guy De Maupasant is a very touching story of a priest named Abbe Marigan. As a very faithful servant of God, all his beliefs were fixed and never wavered. For him, everything in this world is created with an admirable logic. But despite all of his traits, he hated women. For him, they are twelve times unclean, weak creature, curiously disturbing and have fleshly love. What makes this story interesting is how his niece and a romantic night changed all that he believes.

The Cask of Amontillado

The story of “The Cask of Amontillado” is a story of revenge of Montressor against Fortunato’s insult to him. The narrator Montressor starts the story by stating that he has been insulted by his acquaintance and that is Fortunato and that shall seeks revenge. he decided to use Fortunato’s fondness of wine against him. Montressor went to the place of Fortunato while that time it was a carnaval season, Fortunato wears multicolor costume and a cap with bells and Montressor approaches him.
Montressor said that he is too busy he will ask Luchesi to taste the wine if it is really amontillado. To Fortunato, Luchesi couldn’t tell amontillado from other kind of sherry. Fortunato is eager to taste the wine and to determine wether it is really amontillado or not. Then fortunate insists that they will go to montressor’s place.
Montressor already planned all, he sent his servants away. When the two men arrived in the place of montressoe , it is covered with saltpeter and because of the nitre Fortunato began to cough Montressor act as if he is concern with Fortunato and offered him to bring Fortunato back to his home but fortunate refuses instead, he insisted that the wine can cure his cough. The two still continue to explore the  vault in which it s full of dead bodies of Montressor fmily. Suddenly when they reached the place where montressor will trap him he said to Fortunato that the amontillado kept there that is what Montressor’s long waiting for, he trapped Fortunato inside.
Poe became a private army and that gave him an idea to use the setting during that time. Houses has a catacombs and the members of the family buried there. That scenario inspires him to use the setting in the creation of “The Cask of Amontillado”.

 Ku Turion si Kulakog

It is believed that circumcision makes a man increase his body build and reduce the tendency to acquire disease. Once a man undergo a circumcision, he began to feel that they are more confident of their personality. However, the pain and the burden they felt is obviously undeniable. Like the story of “Ku Tur5ion si Kulakog”. There was a boy named Bornuk and the story centered about circumcision. What Bornuk’s feeling is normal like evey man encountered. Despite his fear his mother succeeded in convincing Bornuk by telling him that circumcision is like a bite of an ant.
I talk to a friend and based from his experience, he too really afraid to be circumcised but when everybody starts telling him including his mother that its like a bite of an ant that made him faced the very painful circumcision. After hus circumcision he also agreed that it is really a bite of an ant but lots and lots of ant. Afterwards, he became proud of himself that he can say that he is truly a man now.
Just like what happened to Burnok despite of his anxiety an fear of circumcision he bravely faced it and became proud of himself.

Moonlight

In Guy de Maupassant's story "Moonlight", the priest Abbe Marignan's beliefs were all fxed and the story began about a priest who despised the existence of woman. In spite of having a niece, he hated women and the wya woman exist as a temptation to men. But after he saw the moonlight and also because if his love for his niece was able to change his prspective towards women.
The story came with a conflict when the sacristan's wife, Melanie told him that his niece has a lover and they meet by 10 in the evening. He stayed late and waited for the rigth ime to come to finally catch hic niece while staying he started to ask God "Why He blessed such dark? Why God done this?" Since the night is intended for sleep, for unconciousness, for repose, for oblivion, but why make it more charming than day, sweeter than dawn or evening? "
As he continued to walk around, still amazed by the view and still has the question in his mind, he suddenly saw two figures. One was taller than the other and he recognized the shorter one.And that was his niece. The taller one kiss the forehead of his niece and by that, he recieved an anwer to his questions. God made the night more enchanting and charming than the day for the lover to nurture such love ,passion and intimacy.
At the end of the story he eventually learned and feel ashamed about the wrong perspective in his mind, Abbe began to realized the true morals and the purpose of being a true servant of God. Abbe is worth to be called as" servant of God" not because of his religous views but because he was able to see life in the end.
Guy de Maupassant's work is not just a piece of art but a message of art. That when we go against love, we are going against God wanted to prevail. The author uses symbolism in other to tell the true meaning behind the story, and that is the moonlight which signifies love, that such beauty is hidden in the dark. Its like no one will evr see love when we wont look deeper in the heart.

The other Two

Psychoanalytic feminism is another approcah wherein it focuse on the analysis of psycological aspect that relates to women's psychology and lead mean to believe that they are masculine and women are feminine. However, in the story of Edith Warthon ,The other two shows the stereotype of men and women. IN her story its evidently seen that women are stronger and powerful compared to men when it comes to dominating the life of men.
Like in the case of Alice Waythorn, She married three different men wherein our generation today belives that once a woman get married to different men she will be considered as a dirty woman and a decent time had elapsed. However, Mr. Waythorn accepted Alice and can afford to smile at thta situation. In contrast to some other women who get married once, they will not think to marry other men and they would rather choose to be alone while men are free to look for his wife and marry again. But alice is not like other women. She prefered to marry again and again despite of the fact that peolpe amd the society will call her as sex parasite. In fact, she was "as easy as an old shoe. A shoe that too many feet had worn". And her character became the result of tension in to many diffrent directions. She became Alice Haskett, Alice Varick and Alice Waythorn.
Another stereotyping in the story is that "if it were not better to own a third of a wife who knew how to make a man happy that a whole one who had lacked the opportunity to acquire the art". To Mr. Waythorn, it is not anymore a big deal whether he is not the first husband of ALice. In fact for him If you are a third husband then surely the woman knew how to make a man happy. Mr. Waythorn is not like most men and he wished to be the first husband and the first person to share the enjoyment and pleasure together with his wife.
This story is an example to show that women are more dominant compare to men and shows tha women has the capability to change her man once thier marriage failed.

Daffodils

"Daffodils"  by William Worthsworth is a poem that collects human emotions inspired by nature that sometimes we neglected because of our busy schedules. Worthsworth uses literary devices in his poem such as personification and similie. in his first line "i wondered lonely as a cloud" he assumes himself to be like a cloud floating in the sky. while in the second line of the poem he says "when all at once i saw a cloud" the cloud possess a characteristics of human being that can look down over the valeys and mountains that can appreciate the beauty of the daffodil.
On the other hand, the second stanza of the poem says "ten thousand saw lat a glance" the author exaggerates that along the margn of the bay theres a ten thousand dafodils. the author also makes use of descriptive images of the lakes, fields, and trees seems like those imgaes will continously praise that beauty of the dafodils and willingly participate the dancing of the flower.
When it comes to the rhyme scheme of the poem its also continues, symbolizing the continuous flow of expression without a pause. the poem "dafodils" remind us about tyhe arrival of the spring season with its color and amazing shape. the dafodils represent joy and happiness of life.

A Poison Tree

The poem entitled " A Poison Tree" by William Blake tackles about a hidden anger that can poison our lives especially if we lack self control. the title of the poem shows contradiction "Poison" means something dangerous and harmful that can cause death while trees symbolizes life because it produces oxygen that brings life to human.
in thefirst stanza the line "i was angry with my friend i told my wrath, my wrath did end"  the persona is angry with his friend and once he told all the things why he became angry then everything then everything will be okay. they will find a solution to their problem. he also says "i was angry with my foe, i told it not my wrath did grows" the statement is contradict in we that he mentions in the first and second line. he doesnt tell what bothered him and he just let his wrath grows because he think that if he told it he may react badly. the stanza shows the contradiction between the personas action and his feeling.
in the second stanza of the poem, the persona supply what the tree needs, he take care of the tree, he watered, and sunned it. he let the tree gow and grow until it bear fruits "and it grew both day and night until it bore an apple bright" he tell the process of maintaining by giving water and sun supplies until the tree is growing and bearing a very tempted fruit and how the foe tempted to taste the poisonous fruit. and as expected the foe steal the poisonous fruit from his friend and tasted and died psychologically.
this what happened in the bible when Adam and Eve are tempted to eat the fruit from the tree. it happened because they both dont hve self control from themselves. it also happens to people who suffered the wrath. those are the people who dont have the control to manage their emotions toward people.

“ A Poison Tree”

The poem entitled “ A Poison Tree” by William Blake talks about the anger felt by the persona. It is seen in the way the title of the poem was constructed and although it is not a complete sentence the meaning of its title is methaporically compared to a growing anger. In the first stanza the worse such as friend and foe show contradiction and disunity of the idea that the persona felt anger between friend and foe. In the second stanza through the use of the worse watered and sunned, it can be noted that it pertains to a growing plant. The poem also contains the rhyme scheme of aa, bb, cc, dd, ee, ff, and so on, it is an indication that the poem manifest continuous and growing attitude. the words that are used in the poem shows two opposing idea and consistently used in the first stanza; friend and foe; end and grow; second stanza- watered and sunned; night and morning.
Also, in the first stanza the word “angry” can be associated to a seed of anger that is felt by the persona that instead of telling to a foe his emotion he tried to hide it by him. Thus, the more the persona hides the anger the more it grows just like a tree. In the third stanza it describes the growth of the tree through the use of words such as: grew, bore and shine. And although it creates a positive image the use of it in the poem still creates the opposite meaning. Thus, the kind of tree determines the kind of fruit it will bear, much as the anger felt by the persona and its result.

“The Daffodils”

“Daffodils” by William Wordsworth Longfellow is a poem consist of four stanzas that used descriptive language throughout the development of the peom. It suggests the idea of beauty of nature and how it affects human emotion. The title of the poem also suggest the time from which the poem was written, it reminds the arrival of spring season and that symbolizes new beginning and hope for mankind. Aside from the descriptive language used in the poem it is also important to note the use of figure of speech such as simile (I wandered lonely as a cloud), hyperbole (ten thousand saw I at a glance), and alliteration of the letter ‘h’ to the word hill and high (both pertaining to nature) found in the second line of the first stanza. The word daffodils was also compared to the “… stars that shine and twinkle on the milky way”, the author probably wanted to tell the reader how blessed the mankind is with the beauty of nature bestowed to us by God. Furthermore, the author used the abovementioned line in order to show what he felt in front of the bunch of daffodils.
The poem has a rhyme scheme of AB AB CC DEDE, GH GH II and JJ KK LL it sugeests a continuous eotion manifested the mood of happiness, joy and hope.

The Other Two

The story entitled “The Other Two” exhibits the feminine and masculine attributes of the main characters in the story. Mrs. Alice Waythorn signifies the masculine characteristics; she was described by her husband as a woman that has the perfectly balanced nerves, that is usually a characteristics of a man as a superior in the society. Her husband, Mr. Wythorn on the other hand signifies the feminine characteristics, this was shown in the way he thinks. It was mentioned in the middle of the story that although Mr. Waythorn shold act as a man, his thoughts suggest the other way.
“Waythorn, waiting in his private room wondered what the other thought of it. The newspapers, at the time of Mrs. Wythorn’s marriage, had acquainted their readers with every detail of her previous matrimoal ventures, and Waythorn cold fancy the derks smiling behind barick’s back as he was ushered in ”.
It is also noticeable in the story how the other two husbands help in the development of the whole story especially the character of Mr. Waythorn and Mrs. Waythorn. That is the feminine characteristics of Mr. Wayhtorn and the masculine characteristics of Mrs. Waythorn are the cause of having”the other two characters” in the story.  This line suggest the gender oprresion of women and men as a superior, it is regard that a woman is a possession of her husband, Mr. Waythorn.
“Waythorn felt himself yielding again to the joy of possesorship. They we his, those white hands with their flitting motions, his light haze of her hair and the lips and eyes…”
This also suggest the stereotyping of men in the society, the term “sex parasite” is also attributed to the character of Alice Waythorn because during the time when the author Edith Wharton wrote the story she constructed the character to reflect the kind of women in the society.

The Cask of Amontillado

The story of Edgar Allan Poe The Cask of Amontillado talks about how Fotunato’s fate turned badly after he was buried alive by MOntresor. Edgar Allan Poe probably got this idea when he heard the story of the duel between the soldiers when he was a private in the year 1827. Edgar Allan Poe associated to the persona of two soldiers Lieutenant Massie and Captain Green. Since Edgar Allan Poe was known for his story about death and mystery, he was able to placed the theme of death in the story, death for Fortunato’s fate. The catacomb that was mentioned in the story plays a significant role in the life of Edgar Allan Poe during his stay at the Fort Independence when he was still a soldier, where he spent his spent his time writing stories like “The Cask of Amontillado”. The suspense in the story is where Montressor led Fortunato to the catacomb, Fortunato followed Montresor plan without doubt that his life will soon to end, much as with the genre used by Poe.
